im 27 and i live in Ghent;
Who i am as a photographer is defined by who i am as i person, and the other way around! So why do i photograph?
The only logical answer seems to be an uncontrollable desire to communicate and comprehend. Photography is my way of understanding the world we live in and my way of communicating with this world.
Working as a photojournalist lets me combine a lot of my interests; storytelling, travel, society, identity, politics, history, …
It allows me to parachute into peoples lives and stories and try to tell them.
I get to be right in the middle of the action,
in the centre of the issues of the day. Where i have noticed that situations and ideas are often more subtle than at first sight.
Experiencing hot topics and “big people” in all of their little nuances helps me to build my own understanding of our world.
and even everyday life in the from of weddings also parachute!
Thats why i photograph the ones that matter to me.
The older i get the more i recognise myself in them
Because we are a tripod, if one of the legs falls, we all do
